To all the volunteers who marshalled the 2010 TT
On behalf of all the Directors and staff of the TTMA we wish to offer our thanks to all the volunteers who signed on to marshal the 2010 TT races; this year produced a record number signing on of a little over 1,600, absolutely amazing!!
We apologise for getting you out on the first Saturday practice evening in the poorest of weather conditions and equally for the following Saturday where there was a lengthy delay and a very late finish. It was also unfortunate that marshals were also put in place on Wednesday only to be stood down due to weather not improving; we have to give it a try but we have no control over the weather.
The brief given to the TTMA each year is to recruit, train and provide marshals for the TT & MGP races; the schedule created for the races is very tight as there is a great deal to fit in. We have to make use of every opportunity to cover all the aspects of the schedule and at times it means suffering some adversity with race delays, long days and being out in unfavourable weather. It is a great tribute to the many marshals who endure some of the less enjoyable elements of the job, but in doing so help make sure the races go ahead.
Please be assured the TTMA fully appreciates the enormous contribution of all volunteers who offer their services as marshals and wish to thank you all for your effort over the two weeks; without your assistance the races cannot happen.
We hope to see you all back here in the Manx Grand Prix later in the year and of course TT 2011. For all those who visited us from off the Island we hope you had a safe journey home; please come back and we’ll do it all again.
Regards,
Bill Carden, IOMTTMA Ltd Press Officer.
Remember: No Marshals = No Races
