Now let's do it all over again.

Well that's another year gone and what a year it was. From a marshals point of view it was absolutely incredible.

For the TT the weather was almost perfect and the marshal numbers came in good and strong and outdoing centenary year by one marshal at the end of race week.

The MGP faired not so well in the weather stakes with more rain than Noah would have been able to deal with. From our perspective we were faced with the threat of cancellations and postponements; and early in the fortnight slow numbers of marshal forms being returned. But with the iron resolve of marshals and some gentle coercion via Manx Radio; we managed to get a record number of marshals signed; over 1500 at the last count, so well done those who were there.

As always our minimum manning level is 504 and that means every single practice or race needs that many people out around the course. All these people need to be at the many strategic marshalling locations around the whole 37.75 miles; every time!! Let’s see if we can break the records again for 2009; with your help I know we can.

Once again these are the brutal facts about making sure the races happen; without enough people practice or racing cannot start. But if you are here on the Island in race weeks you can help; just get to the TTMA office and sign on as a marshal. If you have experience that will be a bonus; if not don't worry, you will not be dropped into the deep end and you can marshal as much or as little as you like.

Please come and find us behind the Grandstand in the top corner of the paddock; we will be pleased to meet you and talk you through the art of marshalling on the TT course; we'll even supply a mug of tea or coffee. 2009 is just around the corner; keep that tabard where you can easily find it.
